Multipurpose Centre

Maris Stella is building a Multi-purpose Centre. The facility boasts an indoor court that can host a variety of activities i.e. Indoor Hockey, Action Netball, Action Soccer, Badminton and a climbing wall. It also has a Dance Studio, Gymnasium facility and superb Tuck shop area with plenty of shady and sheltered seating for our girls.

By building this centre, we can ensure that Maris Stella can continue to provide a well structured system for the promotion of our traditional sports i.e. Indoor Hockey, Action Netball and Badminton without having to rely on outside venues. In addition we plan to develop a Lifestyle programme that will enhance our existing extramural programme. The focus we would like this lifestyle programme to take in the future can be summed up in a simple sentence and that is:

“At Maris Stella we strive to encourage our girls to explore and to embrace their talents and skills, so that we can ultimately assist in the development of the Champion within.”

By focusing on bringing out the best in each girl, we hope to provide an environment and opportunity for our girls that will assist them in making better lifestyle choices. By adopting these attitudes, we hope that our girls will be equipped to make important decisions that would alleviate modern day trends that lead to health-related problems like obesity, asthma and diabetes amongst our youth.

What type of activities are envisaged:
  • Structured exercise routines and clinics specifically designed for the individual and her needs.
  • Non-complex exercise routines in a safe and fun environment.
  • Wellness clinics and family activity days for all to participate in.

The programme caters for:

  • All pupils from 6 years of age that join in the programme. All specialist sports enthusiasts wanting specifically to improve their overall performance.
  • Staff wanting to lower stress levels and maintain general health while conveniently exercising regularly at school.
  • Parents wanting to exercise or seek advice.

  This programme will:

  • Improve overall sporting achievements. Allow for convenient access to professional advice and programmes related to specific types of strength, fitness and general conditioning.Cater for pupils that do not participate in Sport.
  • Encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and approach to well-being and nutrition.

So Maris Stella is anxiously looking forward to the completion of this long-awaited Multi-purpose Centre at the end of  2007.
